The Univeristy of North Carolin Women's Soccer team won thier First natioanal championship in 1981. Since then, they have added 15 more - the most dominent dynasty in college sports -

"The Tar Heels played their first game, a 12-0 win over Duke, on September 20, 1979. The first season saw Carolina compile a 10-2 overall record, losing only twice to a club team, the McLean Grasshoppers."

"Nov. 3, 1979 . . . . . . . lost to the McLean Grasshoppers (VA club), 3-7, the first loss for the program as a varsity sport"

in Gothenburg Sweden. The Grasshoppers in green and the home

favorites, Främmestads IF, Sweden in blond.

The girls from Mclean dominated and won 2-0.

Most soccer fans believe the women's '91 USA World Cup

team was the first to fill a stadium for a women's

international match. While their stadiums may have

been a bit larger, they were not the first. The

Grasshoppers did it 12 years earlier.
